Bev and Carol can’t believe it when the university offers grants to pay for a

Med and encounter people and places that give them an education they could
never get in a lecture theatre. Join them on their hilarious adventure and get
to know their very different attitudes to life.
The book is based on the author's real-life experiences and is a prequel to her
humorous memoir 'Bunny on a Bike'.

Bev, thank you for taking the time to answer some questions. I'm sure that your
fans are excited to get to know you better. Tell us a little about yourself.
My name is Bev Spicer and I was born in Bridgnorth, Shropshire. My father was
an observer for the RAF and my mother was the beautiful youngest daughter of a
successful market gardener.
I somehow managed to get to Cambridge University as a post-grad, despite
spilling a schooner of sherry over my blouse at interview (in my defence, I have
never thought of sherry as something you should drink). I am widely read, having
studied English and French Literature at Keele, where I also developed my love
of astronomy thanks to the punishing curriculum that demanded I take a science
option in my first year. If I had my life again, I would spend it in the company
of such people as Sir Patrick Moore, Prof. Brian Cox and my wonderful astronomy
night-school teacher Stuart Clark.
Very impressive! Do you still live in England?
At present, I live in France, where the weather is normally better than in
Cambridge, England, where I quit my job as an EFL lecturer at Anglia Ruskin
University. I miss my friends, and my students, but the pull of sunshine, great
food and being able to write everyday is irresistible.
Are England and France the only countries where you have lived?
I have lived on Crete, where I learned to speak the language and became a
fitness instructor, (until my thighs became too big for my jeans). In the
Seychelles I lived on Mahe, and worked for the government, teaching on the small
island of St. Anne, going to work every day on a WWII landing craft and watching
out for giant centipedes dropping from the classroom rafters. I later
co-designed the syllabus for years I and II, which were used for many years -
there were no books to teach from at that time, very few resources and often not
enough desks or chairs for the students.
Your background begs for you to be a writer. Can you tell us a little about your writing?
I have published Bunny on a Bike, by Bev Spicer (a humorous memoir about my
time as a Playboy croupier). I have also published My Grandfather's Eyes (a
chilling thriller) and Angels (a short horror story) both by B A Spicer.
I am currently editing three other books which will be ready when they have
been thoroughly pulled to pieces several times and finally put back together to
my satisfaction.
In the meantime, I hope you will enjoy my offerings and will want to come
back for more. I appreciate honest feedback - I really do.
I have a blog, which I update whenever I can and where I publish extracts
from time to time: http://www.baspicer.blogspot.fr/
